Sacramento Kings center Maxime Raynaud will be reevaluated in approximately two weeks following a right knee injury sustained during a preseason game against the Golden State Warriors. According to NBA.com, the 23-year-old second-year pro was taken off the court in a wheelchair after going down with a right knee injury late in the first half of Saturday's 111-106 loss at Chase Center.
Raynaud, who was selected 42nd overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, suffered the injury while setting a screen for teammate Darius Acuff Jr. against Stephen Curry. The collision caused Raynaud to fall hard to the floor with 2:32 remaining before halftime. Medical staff examined him on the court before he was moved to a wheelchair, where he walked out of the arena on crutches with an ice bag wrapped around his knee.
Imaging results indicated that Raynaud suffered a patellar subluxation in his right knee. While he did not provide immediate updates on the severity, he stated he would undergo an MRI. Kings coach Doug Christie declined to speculate on Raynaud's status without further medical information but emphasized the team's support, noting that Raynaud is a vital part of the organization.
Raynaud had been performing well in preseason play, averaging 12.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in the games leading up to the injury. In his rookie season, he averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds over 74 games. Teammates, including veteran forward Ben Simmons, who made his preseason debut for the Kings after missing last season due to a chronic back injury, offered words of encouragement to Raynaud as he left the arena.
