The Nasdaq 100 enters a critical earnings stretch with Tesla and Meta set to report this week, following a volatile overnight session shaped by SpaceX’s blowout results and a Netflix slide.
SpaceX shares jumped 6.89% to $157.97 in after-hours trading after posting $14.58 billion in quarterly revenue. Netflix closed down 1.71% at $68.70 and slid a further roughly 6% after hours to about $65 after reporting third-quarter revenue of $12.9 billion, a 12% increase that met estimates but failed to excite, SEC filings show.
Tesla Faces Margin Pressure as Investors Await Q3 Earnings
Tesla reports on a consensus revenue estimate of $28.06 billion, with Estimize’s crowd forecast slightly higher at $28.36 billion. Earnings per share expectations sit at $0.45 from analysts and $0.48 from Estimize.
The company delivered 486,532 vehicles in the quarter, beating the 461,974 consensus, but operating margin collapsed to 1.4 % in Q2, a figure investors will scrutinize for any recovery, Electrek reported.
Regulatory credits fell 67 % year over year, removing a cushion that once padded margins. Capital expenditure reached $5.8 billion in Q2, and management guided for more than $25 billion across all of 2026. The spending surge reflects Tesla’s push into energy storage and its Optimus humanoid program, both of which consume cash without contributing meaningful revenue yet.
Netflix Shares Slide as Meta’s AI Spending Draws Scrutiny
Netflix’s Q3 delivered an operating margin of 34.6%, up from prior quarters, but the stock’s after-hours decline of roughly 6% from Tuesday’s closing price signals that investors wanted more. The streaming giant’s revenue growth of 12% marks a deceleration from earlier quarters, and the market appears to be pricing in a slower trajectory.
Meta enters the week as the other megacap test. The company’s AI spending has drawn scrutiny, with capital expenditure rising sharply over the past year. Any guidance suggesting further acceleration could weigh on the stock, even if core advertising revenue remains strong.
