New England left tackle Will Campbell has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain in his right knee. The 22-year-old is considered week-to-week and is expected to miss time as the team prepares for a matchup against the New York Jets.
New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain in his right knee, according to a source told ESPN. The 22-year-old offensive lineman is expected to miss some game action as he recovers from the injury sustained during the team's recent victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Campbell exited the Week 5 contest early after suffering the knee injury. Following the game, he underwent MRI testing on Monday to determine the severity of the damage. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the tests indicated that Campbell avoided a major, long-term injury, leading to his current designation as "week-to-week."
Head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the situation on Monday, noting that the team will monitor Campbell's progress closely. "We’ll see how the week goes," Vrabel said. "It’ll get looked at and continues to rehab. Wasn’t able to finish the game, so I don’t know how much time he’ll miss — if he’ll be back towards the end of the week, if he’ll be back Wednesday. We’ll take it day by day and see how he feels tomorrow, see what he does Wednesday, and keep you updated on the injury report."
The injury is a setback for the Patriots, who are beginning to find their rhythm after a slow start to the 2026 season. Sunday's 45-17 win over the Raiders marked the team's second consecutive victory and their third win of the season. Campbell, who was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has started every game he has been healthy enough to play in his first two years with the franchise.
Campbell's injury history includes a knee issue last season that caused him to miss four games. He did not appear to be fully healthy upon his return at the end of the regular season but started through the Super Bowl. With the Patriots preparing for a divisional matchup against the New York Jets this coming Sunday, the team will likely be without their starting left tackle for the Week 6 contest.
